“When I started getting into eCommerce, it wasn’t something I had aspired to do. When I graduated from college, I took an entry level sales job and worked at the same organization for several years. After about 4 years, we began building out our DTC platform online; and brought on some outside help. I was eager to pivot out of sales, and eCommerce offered a blend of analytics, design, and data that was something I’ve always enjoyed.
We brought on a VP of Marketing that had many years of experience in all things digital; and I was lucky enough that she took me under her wing and gave me a 1-on-1 mentorship that showed me first hand how to live in the eCommerce world. From maintaining and setting up a Shopify store to running Facebook (Meta) Ads, Google Ads, e-mail marketing and graphic design - I was able to do a little bit of everything with a helping hand showing me best practices and real world experiences.
From there, I took several night classes and online courses; but they were never in-depth or hands on enough to guide me as much as that initial mentorship. I spent over $10k on classes at accredited universities and not once did they open the backend of Facebook or Google ads. After working in-house, and freelancing for several years - and realizing the gap in the market - I wanted to create something that can give back to the community and help others get that same hands on mentoring that helped me get to where I am today.
